Many of Madonna’s most popular songs predate the introduction of streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music, which have completely revolutionized the global music industry. For decades, if fans wanted to hear a single by an artist they love whenever they wanted, they had to go out and purchase a copy, typically on vinyl, then CD, then later as a digital download.
Madonna is still producing brand new music, and she has an album expected at some point in 2026. As she churns out new work, and as older cuts become suddenly popular again, she continues to play catch-up on a handful of charts that were only inaugurated long after her hit-making heyday.
Madonna scores another streaming win in the United Kingdom this week – not with a brand new tune, but with a decades-old smash that has finally reached one specific roster across the Atlantic.
Madonna’s Into the Groove appears on the Official Streaming chart for the first time this week. The track launches at No. 95 on the U.K.’s list of the most-played cuts on streaming sites.
Madonna earns only her fourth career placement on the Official Streaming chart, which is not focused on any one genre or language, but rather paints a picture of what the British public is playing on the most important streaming platforms.
The pop icon first landed on the tally a little more than a decade ago. Bitch I’m Madonna, which also credits Nicki Minaj, climbed as high as No. 73 after launching on the roster in June 2015.
It would be nearly a decade before Madonna doubled her appearances on the roster. In the summer of 2023, Madonna joined The Weeknd and Playboi Carti on “Popular.” Then the following year, Like A Prayer also became a huge win once more thanks to the latest Deadpool movie.
No. 95 is a very low starting point, even for a years-old cut. Into the Groove brings Madonna to a brand new career low as it arrives. Previously, Bitch I’m Madonna held that distinction, while Popular and Like a Prayer peaked at Nos. 9 and 40, respectively.
While the Official Streaming chart features 100 spaces, only five songs debut this week. Madonna scores the lowest entry of that bunch. This time around she is beaten by Alex Warren’s Fever Dream (No. 5), Bruno Mars’s Risk It All (No. 24), Raye’s Nightingale Lane, and Blackpink’s latest single Go (No. 67).
Into the Groove manages to return to the Official Singles chart, the most closely-watched ranking of the most-consumed tunes throughout the U.K. at the same time that it reaches the Official Streaming chart for the first time. Madonna’s smash is a top 40 success again, as it breaks back in at No. 40.
In the past, Into the Groove has risen all the way to No. 1 on the Official Singles chart. The track reached that position in its second stint and held there for four consecutive frames.
Into the Groove has now spent 17 weeks on the Official Singles chart, but it has been quite some time since it last ranked as one of the 100 most popular pieces of music in the nation. Into the Groove last appeared on the roster in January 1986, just over 40 years ago.
One full-length by Madonna occupies space on two rankings in the U.K., and it climbs on both of them. Finally Enough Love, a remix release shared by Madonna several years back, improves to No. 74 on the Official Albums Streaming chart and to No. 92, up from last place, on the Official Albums roster.
